Doo Wop Experience Museum

The Doo Wop Museum is a reconstruction of the former Surfside Diner. This diner was built in the 1960’s and when faced with demolition in 2003, all of the steel was dismantled and stored, to be reconstructed in Fox Park in Wildwood, directly across from the Wildwood convention center. The building was redesigned to include public toilets, and an outdoor band shell facing the park. The museum includes an authentic 1950’s malt shop. Along with its distinctive butterfly roof, the exterior features a neon sign garden, with 8 vintage neon signs salvaged from demolished motels. Stokes Architecture was also involved with the interior exhibit design, including additional vintage neon signs hung from the ceiling, a reconstruction of a motel façade, and digital media which will present the story of Wildwoods Doo Wop style motels.
